O'Death
Five guys, maybe three shirts between them, take to the stage. There’s a banjo, a fiddle, a drum set littered with gas cans, chains, and broken cymbals. Then they all start howling, stomping; it’s an anachronistic jug band party in a junkyard with sing-along hooks and weathered vocals from another time. Their fans, an ever-expanding congregation, sing along and follow the band with an almost religious fervor, and as vocalist Greg Jamie’s eyes roll back into his head there’s a sense that something almost sinisterly spiritual has overtaken everyone in the room. This is the world of O’Death.

Bottle Up & Go
Inspired by chain-gang blues, slave-song howls, murder ballads and bootleg whiskey, BOTTLE UP & GO is a two piece slide guitar and drums blues band, with saxophone accompaniment. BU&G features Keenan's grating, art-damaged slide guitar work and impassioned, frothing-at-the-mouth vocals, with Fareed pounding heavily and crashing into the drum set to fiercely accentuate rhythmic intricacies and Lucas' soaring schizophrenic saxophone horn blasts.

Sidewalk Dave
Sidewalk Dave's heart beats whiskey in three, with his blood in a can, wrote a newspaper bible, sang with The Fellow Felons, and sucked gold liquid mischief from the almighty jug. Garage Folk in C -- cowards... Try and keep up.

Elf Power
ELF POWER formed in 1994 and have spent the last 14 years releasing nine albums, two eps, a handful of singles, and touring America, Europe, and Japan. Elf Power’s ninth album blasts them past the familiar territories of beautiful records past – landing them on exciting new terrain. Granted, the Elves’ sound is still founded on the bedrock attributes that make them memorable: leader Andrew Rieger’s otherworldly lyrical stances and his easy way with the rare and amazing melody, their instrumentally-eclectic reappraisal of classic rock, and a propulsive rhythm section that’s tight as ever. Ex-The Olivia Tremor Control.

Ham1
A ringing attribute of Jim Willingham’s songwriting is that it manages to be both exuberant and high-minded -- inviting and literate -- all at once. Combining the terse acoustic propulsion of the late-model Feelies with the breezy, half-stoned-on-the-beach pop-ambiance of Dean Wareham’s Luna, Willingham nevertheless brings a distinctive Athenian warmth to his Captain’s Table. It figures: there are horn-charts and string-sections, burst veins of Link Wray-ish guitarplay, pastoral keyboard-drones, tremulous bits of Hawaiian slack-key guitar and some country-fried saunter up under the rhythm section. Chiefly, though, there’s that friendly storytelling voice -- half-sung, half-spoken – escorting you through the broken waltzes, atmospheric ballads and jittery rockers, all.

Honey
HONEY is a six-piece of multi-instrumentalists that gather by the waters of a lake named Garda in Connecticut. Their sometimes redcoated frontman Ryan Casey says his greatest motivation behind HONEY has been synaesthesia-—a neurologically--based phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway (for example, you can see sounds and hear tastes). When HONEY is playing, they enjoy climbing to the top of ivy covered ominous walls of sound to stare upwards into the ambient calm. Alongside the familiar guitar, drums and bass will be heard unusual combinations of organ, lap steel, saxophone, synthesizers, noise boxes, pedal-playing, and more.
Fans of The Jesus & Mary Chain would surely enjoy this band!

Deerhoof
One of our favorite bands ever! Although typically classified as an indie rock band, due to their having been on an indie rock label (Kill Rock Stars) for the entirety of their career, the mercurial and unconventional nature of Deerhoof's music makes genre identification difficult, and perhaps inappropriate. But several recurring features can be said to constitute Deerhoof's distinctive sound: unassuming vocal delivery set against hyper-expressive instrumental playing; an elastic approach to group dynamics and rhythm more akin to the rubato of classical music performance practice than rock; odd yet highly memorable melodies; harmonic sophistication and dissonance; disjointed, condensed, asymmetrical and otherwise unconventional song structures; raw and at times strident sound surfaces; improvisation; and general creative restlessness.

Fat Worm of Error
Iron Valley’s bedazzled bunch spring forth with a stunner of a record that drones, moans, chortles and squeaks in completely unexpected ways. Beefheart-soaked and strangulated guitar tactics, double mutter drumming, and bass all collide in uncharted territory with hysterical vocal yelps to make this record advance to the head of the class in your record pile. Think of this band in the unlikely company of the real R n’ R Hall of Famers like HALF JAPANESE, THINKING FELLERS LOCAL 182, and similar jokers. Features folks who have been in bands like DEERHOOF and ANGST HASE PFEFFER NASE!

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti
The alternative pop/rock and lo-fi recordings of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti are full of intrigue -- and full of contradictions. Pink, a male singer, composer, musician, and producer who is based in Los Angeles, provides songs that are melodic, catchy, and familiar -- songs that, in their own unorthodox way, recall the most immediate, accessible, straightforward FM pop/rock of the '70s and '80s. But Pink's work also comes across as bizarre, trippy, skewed, and twisted -- and a lot of that strangeness comes from his production style. As a songwriter, Pink has a real sense of pop/rock craftsmanship, but his very muddy way of producing and his oddball, kooky sound effects make the late-'90s and early-2000s recordings of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti (which is really the name of a project, not an actual group) sound highly eccentric.

Chairlift
Chairlift formed in Boulder, Colorado in early 2006 to make live music for haunted houses. Frequenting the strange Broker Inn on the edge of town to see empty late-night jazz shows, Caroline Polachek, Aaron Pfenning and later-joining Patrick Wimberly were all mystified by the 1980's faux-gothic architecture, oak-cabinet aquariums, vacant dancefloors, fake trees, and muffled velveteen booths which provided them with the 'ideal hypothetical setting' for a new breed of pop music- a place where subtle clashes blossomed into uncanny pleasure. Now relocated to Brooklyn. For fans of Mgmt., Yeasayer, Efterklang, etc.
